Hey everyone!
This is Amber. She is six months old and needs a good home. She has all her shots and is spaded. Please, if you live in the valley, and you or someone you know could take her in, please email me: itzthebeat@gmail.com
If you live outside of the valley and still want her, we can arrange something!
Please reblog!
Hey everyone it’s Alexis. Amber went up to Austin this weekend to finally be taken in. However the couple thought she was too big and did not take her. Amber is coming back Sunday and is going to be taken care of by the person she’s been with this whole time. However, the situation is still the same, she needs a good permanent home. I’ve made this deal with the EAC but it applies to anyone. If you can find me a good home for this wonderfully kind and sweet dog, I will make you flan, give you the best hug ever, and you will earn the title of “king” or “queen” so ‘n so unless you prefer another title. Amber is incredibly smart and would make a perfect pet for anyone, let’s help her out y’all!

Hellllllllllllllo EAC,
Did you get my Animaniacs reference? If you did, high five for you! Lot’s of good news I bring to your dashboards this lovely Sunday morning:
- Tomorrow is Halloween.
- Tuesday, November 8th, we will be having a fruit cup sale.
- Tuesday, November 15th, we will be be participating in Cultural Night. The country we chose to represent is Costa Rica.
- Thursday, December 1st, we will be hosting a screening of “Pipe Dreams” in the SU.
- Al-Jazeera reblogged a post from our Tumblr! Wowza!
Here are the details:
Tuesday, November 8th: We will be having set-up in front of the library, at 10:30 AM. We are asking you, our wonderful members, to donate fruits to make fruit cups with. The sale will start at 11:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM. We hope you’ll let as many people know so we can have a great turn out and make some money!
Tuesday, November 15th: As apart of UTPA’s International Day’s, we will be apart of “Cultural Night” where different student orgs sample food from different countries all over the world. We chose Costa Rica for it’s biological greeness but also for it’s eco-friendliness on the whole. The even begins at 6:00 PM and ends at 8:00 PM. We will further discuss this event at the next meeting. International Day’s is two days of jam packed presentations, films, and unique events that I hope all of you will find some time to participate in. Here is a link to the full schedule:

Our very own Dr. Lynn Vincentnathan will be presenting on Monday, November 14th, in SBSC 103 at 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM. Her presentation will be on Climate Change Denial Among Catholics.
Best news of all: We’ve secured funds and have picked a date to host our screening of “Pipe Dreams.” This event is definitely going to be bigger and require more work from us than the other two events. We are going to need the committees to really buck up for this one and all our members to chip in to make sure this is a successful event for us. I will be sending out an email later today completely dedicated to the film and what we need to do. If you have not seen the film, you may watch it here:
I know I’ve only explained three items of the list I’ve sent you but there’s no need for me to go into Halloween and y’all know I’m such a fan of Al-Jazeera hence why I think it’s a big deal, LOL.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns send us an email or drop us a message!
Organic Square Food Gardening Class in Edinburg, TX
On September 27 (Tuesday) the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands & World Birding Center will be hosting a class on Organic Square Food Gardening. The class starts at 5:30 PM ‘till 7:00 PM and will be taught by Norma Linda Santos who is a Texas Master Gardener, a Junior Master Gardener Specialist, and an Organic Garden Specialist. She has traveled all over South America and the southern states as part of the Norman Borlaug Institute of International Agriculture through Texas A&M teaching sustainable horticulture and classroom gardening. She has also successfully created a South Texas vineyard and has produced her first commercial wine. She will be teaching specifically at this event about raised bed construction, succession planting, shading for hot climates, and more! It only cost 3 dollars for the general public and space is limited (you can call 956-381-9922 to check on spaces). I HIGHLY recommend y’all check out this amazing opportunity. I would attend but sadly I have to go out of town Tuesday but I hope at least one of you does go so maybe you can tell me about it when I get back? I’ll make you dinner ;o
Yesterday was such a huge success, the food, the people, music, art, it was all so so great. We put in so much hard work, I’m just really proud of everyone, food not bombs, eac, edinburg bike community, and just people who walked into the event. <3333
We will be having a “No Gas March” from 6 to 7 PM downtown on N 14th Street or North Main Street in McAllen. If you want to use your feet, bikes, non-electric scooters, skateboards, skates, anything is welcome so long as it does not require fossil fuels. We will march to Archer Park where we’ll have an earth-friendly pachanga with free food, live music, and live art. If you are a musician or an artist, please come by! We’re open to anyone joining in. We will also be collecting signatures for a letter/petition to give to our local upper-valley leaders on Monday.
The reason I urge y’all to either get involved with the event, spread the word, or just go for a little while is because here in the valley our calls for moving away from fossil fuels have not been loud enough to reach our city leader’s ears. This event is our opportunity to let them know loud and clear the direction we want our community to move in. The cleaner direction (duh)!
Want more info? Want to help out? Want to play some music, bring food, or do some art? Email us at: eac.org@gmail.com or call (956) 648 - 8831
PLEASE REBLOG Y’ALL!
Please keep reblogging this everyone, let the whole Valley know!
